NFPA 704 Diamond Information
The NFPA diamond, also known as the "fire diamond" or RTK diamond, is a requirement of the NFPA 704 standard. It was originally
designed to provide quick notification to emergency personnel of potential chemical reactions and risks. The
NFPA 704 diamond is readily recognized, and is often used as an indicator for plant and employee safety
as well. The blank NFPA diamond is referenced below:
The NFPA diamond is divided into four regions. The four divisions are color-coded, with blue indicating the level of health hazard, red indicating flammability, yellow indicating chemical reactivity, and white containing special codes for unique hazards. Each of the health, flammability and reactivity ratings is numbered on a scale from 0 (no hazard / normal substance) to 4 (severe risk).
